It is with a great sense of loss and sadness that Mally and I were informed of the home call of Pastor Bento Bartolomeu Matusse the long-standing senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Maputo in Mozambique

With winter at its peak in June, the Macedonian Ministries team had the joy of visiting six Sotho churches located at high elevation in southern Africa where snow covers most of the mountain tops.

In South Africa there are many orphaned children as a result of widespread HIV/AIDS, and many reside in abusive homes or with absent parents. Our nation’s children have harsh upbringings and are often left to fend for themselves.

Macedonian Ministries, a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), has the mandate to provide humanitarian aid in the form of compassionate ministry. This includes collecting and distributing food, clothing and other resources to pastors from churches who have minimal funding to support their congregants.

Over the past weeks the situation in KZN has returned to NEW NORMAL. Stores affected by the unrest are generally open for business and commodities are available. Disaster relief has ended, but care of the needy continues in the hope that our resources will be be sustainable.

Covid 19, winter chills and the recent unrest in KZN continue to negatively impact the needy, especially in rural to remote regions.

This Women’s Month, Macedonian Ministries is celebrating the God-fearing women who embody strength and have the passion to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Many thanks to those who donated food, clothing and other relief parcels.

On the frontlines, Macedonian Ministries is alleviating some of the felt pressures caused by the ripple effects of the violence and immense damage to property. Their first response was to reach out to those who had been most affected in their immediate vicinity. 

Situated at higher elevation in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains in SA, this community is experiencing a more severe winter than usual.

Macedonian Ministries, a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), has not ignored the call to share the Good News even in the face of Covid-19. On the frontlines, their teams have continued to minister and give humanitarian aid to those who find themselves in desperate need.

Despite the reach of COVID-19, God is still building His church. A newly planted congregation by the name of Inkosinathi Baptist Church in Butterworth, Eastern Cape, has seen development, growth and people coming to salvation since lockdown Level Three.

April 2021 was yet again another fruitful month for our organisation.

Macedonian Ministries completed two phases of setting up an electric-operated submersible pump borehole at local Baptist church, Manzibomvu, in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

We update our readers with reports of a baptism at Smirna Baptist and the recent induction of Pastor Lawrence Kumalo as a full time pastor at Hammarsdale Baptist Church.

Macedonian Ministries were quick to respond to the felt needs of impoverished communities. Collecting food and clothes from willing donors, we orchestrated parcel drop-offs to alleviate the pressures caused by the pandemic.

February 2021 was an eventful month for us at Macedonian Ministries. We were able to install the long-awaited water system in Manzibomvu. Praise God!

Macedonian Ministries aims to collaborate with church leadership. In partnering with churches, they are able to play a supportive role if it is needed as stated in their missional statement “Come over and help us.” (Acts 16:9)

With Christ’s birth at the centre of our Christmas celebrations, it warms our hearts to see so many people in need experience His love and provision during this festive season.
