Smyrna Baptist Church on Resurrection Sunday

This is an inner-city congregation with a membership of just over 100 French-speaking foreign nationals, most of whom have fled from N E Democratic Republic of Congo where the civil war has destabilised life for many years. It was wonderful to be with them on RESURRECTION Sunday and have the joy of preaching God's Word. Worship was enthusiastically warm, the fellowship was loving and caring - one sensed that you were among Christians who were delighted to be with each other, sharing the abundant riches found in a Resurrected Savior. In stark contrast to the Xenophobia which these folk face day by day, it brought tremendous comfort to my heart to see them expressing the indomitable joy found in the abiding presence of Jesus. This congregation has planted five churches over the past few years and is currently busy with a sixth in Durban. Praise God. If you feel led by the Lord to partner with them in their vision, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
