African Diaspora

For many years, this huge movement of people across Africa has resulted in its cities becoming inhabited by vast communities of local and foreign nationals, many of whom are forced to initially live in informal settlements, which are generally located as close to the "inner city" as is possible.

The city of Pietermaritzburg is no different to other cities in Africa.

Sadly like most, our churches in Pietermaritzburg have not kept abreast of this development in terms of evangelism and church planting.

PICEM, Pietermaritzburg Inner City Evangelical Mission, was established some years ago with a view to meeting some of the desperate spiritual needs of our inner city.

Graciously, God has enabled us to plant five churches, and the premises we occupy are also home to an inter-denominational evangelical youth organisation.

It is my privilege, on behalf of the BUSA, to chair the local management committee, which has oversight of this ministry.

Today, I had the joy of preaching God's Word at the Fountain of Life Community Church, which is led by Pastor Sam Nkosi. It was a rich time of worship and study in the Scriptures.

Please give thanks to God for the favour He shows to PICEM, and pray with us that this ministry will be enabled to meet ALL the challenges it faces in the inner city.
